Trade Ideas
$118–228
Day Trade Dash
$147–199

MOMO Pro is cheaper. It shows you what's moving. VWR tells you why — EDGAR direct catalyst detection, AI filing sentiment, estimated LULD bands, and a ranked board you can tune. That difference is $12/month. Trade Ideas includes backtesting and AI-generated trade ideas beyond scanning. Competitor pricing approximate as of June 2026 — verify with each provider.

Why VWR

Direct from the source.
Filed, read, and AI-rated — before the news wire.

Source

EDGAR direct, not via news

VWR polls the SEC's EDGAR feed directly. 8-K, S-3, F4, NT — classified the moment they hit the tape, before they reach any newswire. Warrior Trading's Day Trade Dash surfaces filings through Benzinga. VWR reads the primary source.

Verification

AI scores the filing, not the headline

Each filing is sent directly to Claude Haiku, which reads the actual SEC text and returns BULLISH / BEARISH / NEUTRAL with a confidence score. No headline rewriting. No editorial filter. The source document, scored at detection time.

Transparency

Momentum you can see

No hidden number. Each ticker's acceleration and sustain render as a live ring — color and motion carry the read, and standard indicators decide which of four tiers it sits in right now. Move the sliders below and watch it respond the same way the real scanner does.

Ranking

Ranking you can customize.

VWR's universe includes low-float, small-cap tickers. Surging names with high RVOL and price gains enter the scanner, where every ticker moves through one of four tiers — Active, Watching, Cooling, and Catalog — as its state is validated against both cumulative and trailing windows measuring intensity, magnitude, and direction. You can also adjust penalty multipliers to prioritize the ranges of price, float, and market cap that matter to you. Open the Ranking Calculator and drag the anchor points directly on the graphs to move the floors and knees — tighten up or relax the criteria you care about.

Price, float, and market cap all feed the rank calculator — a higher price, higher market cap or larger float reduces resultant multipliers, thus lowers the ticker state, and adjusts its position in the tier.

Core

Momentum scanner

20-day time-of-day-bucketed relative volume baseline. Regular-session-only, so early session RVOL isn't inflated by thin premarket tape. Computed in Rust for sub-second latency across a 2,500+ symbol universe.

Catalyst

EDGAR direct-feed detection

8-K material events, S-3 shelf registrations, F4 insider transactions, NT late filings — detected the moment they hit the EDGAR tape. Classified inline in the scanner row. No news feed intermediary.

AI

Filing sentiment: BULLISH / BEARISH / NEUTRAL

Each filing is sent to Claude Haiku, which reads the actual SEC text and returns a sentiment rating and confidence score. The source document scored at detection — not a headline rewrite.

Customization

Ranking Calculator — tune the multipliers yourself

Open the Ranking Calculator and drag the penalty-multiplier curves — float size, price band, market cap. Order recomputes instantly and your settings persist to your profile.

Categorization

Active · Watching · Cooling · Catalog

Two windows run on every ticker — one cumulative across the session, one trailing the last few minutes — each measured against that ticker's own history rather than a fixed number. Watching is the earliest signal: trailing activity has gone anomalous but the session hasn't confirmed it yet. Active is both windows elevated with price participating. Cooling means the trailing window has come back toward baseline while the day's cumulative record still shows something unusual happened. Catalog holds it for the rest of the session once both have settled, so a ticker that ran at 9:40 is still there at 2pm when it sets up again. Movement between tiers is a measurement, not a judgment — the row shows the underlying readings so you can see why.

Freshness

See what just arrived

Every row carries a freshness bar on its left edge: teal pulse = new alert under 30 minutes, teal dim = in play today, gray = continuation from a prior session.

Layout

Your screen, your layout

Every panel is collapsible. Run the scanner fullscreen with nothing but the active table. Or keep the detail panel, score breakdown, and structural risk chips open side by side. Switch column presets — Momentum, Squeeze, Technical, Minimal, Full — with one click. Screen real estate is yours to allocate.

Risk

Volatility band estimate

An estimated limit-up/limit-down range on every row, computed from the LULD Plan's price tiers — 10% above $3, 20% below, widening into the close. The row flags amber when price comes within 2% of the estimated edge, so you see a symbol pressing its band before it pauses.

This is an estimate, not the official band: the LULD reference price is a five-minute trade mean, and we use last price. Official bands require an exchange data license we don't carry.

UX

AI PROMPT, ticker copy + chart link buttons

Every row carries one-tap utility buttons: AI PROMPT copies a structured prompt pre-populated with live scanner context (ticker, RVOL, float, filings, score) for any AI assistant; ticker copy puts the symbol on your clipboard for your broker; chart link opens the ticker's chart in a new tab. No retyping, no tab hunting.

Accessibility

How VWR compares

Day Trade Dash is the closest direct competitor — same use case, reportedly SIP-based. MOMO Pro is the price benchmark. Trade Ideas is included because it has a real-time scanner, though it's a broader platform. Here's how the features stack up.

Common questions

FAQ

What is RVOL and how does VWR calculate it?
VWR builds a 20-day, time-of-day-bucketed baseline: for every minute of the regular session, it looks at the median cumulative volume that ticker had reached by that same minute over the last 20 trading days. RVOL is today's cumulative volume at that minute divided by that baseline — so a stock trading at 9:35am is compared to what it normally does by 9:35am, not to a flat full-day average like most other scanners use. Tickers with fewer than 10 valid sessions in a minute bucket, or fewer than 10 sessions of history overall, fall back to a change-percent-based signal instead of a suppressed or misleading RVOL number. Extended-hours RVOL (premarket/after-hours) is on the same methodology and still maturing; until then RVOL reflects regular-session (9:30am–4:00pm ET) behavior only.
What are the estimated LULD bands?
LULD (Limit Up-Limit Down) is the SEC's individual-stock circuit breaker: a large enough move from the reference price puts a stock into a limit state and can trigger a five-minute pause. VWR computes an estimated band on every row from the LULD Plan's price tiers — 10% above $3, 20% below, widening into the close — and flags the row amber when price comes within 2% of the estimated edge. This is an estimate, not the official band: the official reference price is a five-minute trade mean, and we use last price. Official bands require an exchange data license we don't carry.
How does ranking customization work?
Ranking orders tickers within a tier — it never moves one between tiers. The base ordering combines four measurements, each scored against that ticker's own trading history rather than a fixed scale: how large the move is, how much money is flowing through it per minute, whether price is participating, and how far current activity sits from that ticker's own high for the session. They are combined so that breadth wins — a ticker strong on all four ranks above one that is exceptional on a single measure and ordinary on the rest. On top of that, you set your own preferences: penalties that push higher price, larger float or larger market cap down the list, and priorities that weight volume or price movement up. Open the Ranking Calculator and drag the curves to move the floors and knees. Your settings persist to your profile, and the adjustment is bounded — your preferences reorder the board, they cannot promote a weak ticker above a strong one. Ranking order and tier placement are algorithmic data tools, not buy or sell recommendations.
What does the AI PROMPT button do?
The AI PROMPT button copies a pre-built prompt to your clipboard — pre-populated with live scanner context for that ticker (symbol, price change, RVOL, float, tier, recent SEC filings). You paste it into your own AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, or a local model) and ask follow-up questions. VWR doesn't run the AI conversation itself — it prepares the context so you don't have to type it out manually each time.
What data sources does VWR use?
Real-time market data: Databento EQUS.MINI. Fundamental data (float, shares outstanding, company metadata): Financial Modeling Prep. SEC filings: EDGAR (public domain, direct feed). Short interest: FINRA (public domain, biweekly publication). News headlines: Tiingo. AI filing sentiment: Claude Haiku (Anthropic). All sources are named — no unattributed data feeds.
How does VWR categorize tickers — what are Active, Watching, Cooling, and Catalog?
Two things decide where a ticker sits. First, structural gates decide whether it belongs on the board at all — float, price band, and enough dollar flow per minute that a normal position can get in or out. Then two activity windows run continuously: one cumulative across the session, one trailing the last few minutes, each measured against that ticker's own trading history rather than a fixed number. Watching is the earliest signal — the trailing window has gone anomalous but the session hasn't confirmed it. Active is both windows elevated with price participating, measured primarily against VWAP, which is available from the first trade rather than waiting on a moving average to warm up. Cooling is the trailing window back toward baseline while the day's cumulative record still shows something unusual happened. Catalog holds a ticker that ran earlier for the rest of the session, so a name that moved at 9:40 is still there at 2pm when it sets up again. A ticker only reaches Cooling or Catalog if it was Active first. Movement between tiers is a measurement, not a judgment — the row shows the underlying readings so you can see what changed.
Is VWR investment advice?
No. VWR is a financial data publication. Ranking order, tier placement, AI sentiment ratings, estimated LULD bands, and all scanner outputs are algorithmic tools derived from public market data. They are not buy or sell recommendations.
Does VWR work on mobile?
Yes. VWR includes a dedicated phone-optimized layout alongside the full desktop scanner. The phone layout surfaces the score ring, RVOL, and tier front and center — designed for pre-market scanning and intraday monitoring without pinching and zooming a desktop table.
What is the Founding Member plan?
Founding Members pay $500/year — non-refundable — and renew at that same rate for three consecutive annual billing periods, regardless of any product upgrades in the meantime. After the third, the subscription renews at the then-current standard annual rate, and we notify you at least 60 days beforehand. Once the 300 founding spots fill, standard pricing rises to $59/month and $600/year (also non-refundable on the annual plan). Version 2 will add NATO phonetic audio alerts, expanded catalyst intelligence, and a subscriber community — Founding Members get it at the founding rate for the duration of the lock.
